Spring
2006 Girls Outdoor Developmental League
The WSC Developmental Leagues are designed specifically for the 6-11 year old player to bridge the gap between house/recreational and Travel Team Soccer. The programs are designed to accommodate those players who wish to try to advance their skills to a higher level. Sessions are geared to cover the fundamentals of the game. Some elementary tactics are covered but the main purpose of the program is to produce players who are more proficient in their fundamental skills.
Boys and Girls will participate in gender only leagues and will train separately.
The teams all practice together once a week under the tutelage of WSC’s Director of Developmental Programs who are assisted by each team’s coach. Also assisting Johnny will be Bobby O’Brien, Assistant Director of Coaching for WSC and members of WSC’s U16-U18 players that are participating in WSC’s mentorship program. Every weekend the teams play scrimmage games. All games are 6 vs 6 or 7 vs 7 on smaller fields to maximize touches on the ball and participation during the games. By design, very little "coaching" is done during the games and players are encouraged to make their own decisions.
No standings are kept. The emphasis is on skill development and learning the fundamentals of the game.
