Averett
University

It
has been announced today the Ben Phelps, U18 '87 Williamsburg
Wizards, has committed to play soccer and attend to
Averett
University
in
Danville
,
Virginia
. Ben is a long time member of the
Williamsburg
Soccer Club (WSC) who has played at both the Wizards and United
levels throughout his career. For the past year he has been the
goalkeeper for the Wizards after spending time as the starting
goalkeeper for the ’87 United team
“I
had a great experience playing for the WSC. The
high point
was a trip to
Ireland
with the club for a tournament during the summer of 2005. I was
invited to play for the Cobh Ramblers, a
semipro team, during the 2006 season. Instead, I have decided
to continue my education and soccer career at
Averett
University
in
Danville
,
Virginia
, where I hope to fill the starting goalkeeper position this
fall. I would like to thank Phil Neiland, Johnny Kamara,
and Richard Butler for their training and for the many opportunities
they have provided for me through WSC”.

has been a committed member of the WSC for the a
number of years”, said Director of Coaching, Richard Butler. “He
has continually improved over that time and was rewarded this year
by being moved up to the Wizard level from the United
team. He has a great desire for the game of soccer and I wish him
well at Averret”.
