Signs National Letter Of Intent With VMI
Jessica has
played with Williamsburg Soccer club For 11 years
Jessica
Robbins of the U18 ’87 Williamsburg Phoenix last weekend signed a
National Letter of Intent to attend and play soccer at Virginia
Military Institute (VMI) in
Lexington
,
Virginia
. She will begin her Division One career this upcoming fall. “I
have been with the club since I was 8 years old and ever since that
time the coaches have always pushed me to become a better player. I
love the coach/player relationship WSC strives to have with each
player. My coach, Amadu Kamara,
is the most devoted soccer person I’ve ever met. The club has
always given me the avenues to improve if I wanted them. I was
always allowed to attend any training sessions that I wanted, and
training with the U18 ’86 Wizards (boys) especially helped me. If
it wasn’t for the people that make up this club, I would never
have become the player I am today’, said Jessica.
Robbins
will play for new head coach Brian Williams, a graduate from nearby
Washington
and
Lee
University
. Last year the Keydets were
7-12-0
and played in the Big South Conference. She will join three former
Williamsburg Soccer Club players at VMI. Karen Bill, Raevon
Pullium and Vanessa Berrios
are will all be seniors at VMI next fall and all have had good
careers at the school.
“Jessica
has always wanted to succeed in her soccer endeavors. She has
attended many extra training sessions and also helped out in a
mentoring capacity in our developmental programs. Over the years she
has put in the extra work that has made her a Division One caliber
athlete. She certainly has the ability to play at this level and has
worked terrifically hard to get to where she is today as a soccer
player and a person. I’m very proud of her and wish her all the
success in the world”, commented Richard Butler, Director of
Coaching.
