Williamsburg Phoenix Girls Have Strong Showing At Hampton Roads Indoor Championships

Williamsburg Phoenix entered three teams in the Combined U-13/14 Bracket at the Hampton Roads Indoor Championships on Sunday, Feb 19th.  All three teams played well against some very physical competition and had a combine record of 8-4-0 . The U13 Williamsburg Phoenix "White" team was Runners Up after going a combined 4-1-0 .  In group play they defeated U14 ODCS Flames II 3-2, U14 NNFC Pumas 4-3, and U13 VA Rush Freedom 5-1.  In the semifinals they posted a 3-1 win against the U14 ODSC I team.  In the finals they played the U14 ODSC II team again and came up on the short end of a 4-1 score. 

The U14 Williamsburg Phoenix and U13 Williamsburg Phoenix teams also made strong showings.  In group play both teams posted 2-1-0 records and were involved in a 3-way tie for first.  After going through the tiebreaker process, the U14 Williamsburg Phoenix won the bracket and went to through to the semifinals.  In the semifinals they played the U14 ODSC II team, falling 3-1.  The U13 Williamsburg Phoenix “Green” team, while playing some good soccer, did not go advance to the semifinals.  The coaches were proud of all three teams’ play and success against tough competition.
