Williamsburg Wizards lose 1-0 in State Cup Semi-Finals.

Wizards - 0; Richmond Strikers - 1
The
Wizards lose to the Richmond Strikers 1-0 in the Virginia State Cup
Semi-Final game. This is the second straight year the Wizards have gotten
this far, but have yet to make it to the championship game. In an evenly
matched game, the Wizards just couldn't get the ball in the back of the
net. Richmond scored the only goal of the game on a breakaway up the
middle at the 15 minute mark of the first half. Despite some good
combinations on the field, corner kicks and throw-ins, the Wizards could
not score. The Wizards have two tournaments in November that will
culminate another successful season. Well done, boys!

Williamsburg Wizards To Compete in Virginia State Cup Final Four
The
U15 Williamsburg Wizards will play the Richmond Strikers Orange in the
Virginia Youth Soccer Association State Cup semi final this Saturday
October 29 at 8:30am. All U15 to U18 State Cup games will be held this
weekend at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach. The Wizards
are coached by Chuck Connelly the Assistant coach at William and Mary. The
last time the two sides met the game ended in a 2-2 draw in a well
contested match. This is the second consecutive state cup semi final for
the Wizards who were beaten last year at the same stage by a good Gunston
Team America Santos squad. Santos will square off with Springfield Fire in
the other semi final. The two winners will play each other on Sunday.
